RideDash is a cycling computer for iPhone with an Apple Watch companion app. This page covers common setup and support questions.
Getting started
- Install RideDash on iPhone and the included RideDash Watch app on Apple Watch.
- Allow location access when prompted. Location is required to record speed, distance, and the ride route.
- Apple Health access is optional. Enable it only if you want to use Apple Watch heart-rate data or save cycling workouts to Apple Health.
- Open RideDash and tap Start to begin recording.
Apple Watch modes
- Companion mode: start and control the ride from iPhone while Apple Watch records workout metrics.
- Independent mode: start the workout directly on Apple Watch. The ride is transferred back to iPhone when the devices reconnect.
Keep iPhone and Apple Watch nearby when finishing a companion ride, and wait until the save confirmation appears before closing either app.
If a ride does not appear immediately
- Keep RideDash open on both devices for a moment so synchronization can complete.
- Confirm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled.
- Open RideDash on iPhone, then reopen RideDash on Apple Watch.
- Check that the same Apple Watch is paired with the iPhone.
- Do not delete the workout from Apple Health while RideDash is still saving.
Location or route problems
- In iPhone Settings, confirm RideDash has location permission.
- For best accuracy, ride outdoors with a clear view of the sky.
- Low Power Mode, weak GPS reception, or force-quitting the app can reduce route accuracy.
